Hi Everyone! I hope your week started off nicely. I’m trying to make the most of my Monday, I feel like it sets the tone for the rest of the week. Do you remember eating cereal as a kid? Or…maybe you still eat cereal as an adult too? I gave up cereal many years ago, all of that sweet sugary goodness had little effect on me as a child, but after age 25 it would all go straight to my hips! I don’t miss cereal too much, but every once in a while I need that sensation. There is just something about eating out of a bowl with a spoon, and experiencing that crunch with every bite, it hits close to home and makes me think of watching Saturday morning cartoons. Ah…the simple days of Bugs Bunny and School House Rock! Doesn’t being an adult suck?
While I won’t give in to the nostalgia of having a bowl of cereal, I recently came up with a breakfast recipe that gives me a similar sensation to having that bowl of cereal. I will even go out on a limb and say that I think this Berrylicious Greek Yogurt Bowl tastes BETTER than cereal. Yes, I said it! What I love about this is that it’s full of nutritious, colorful, and flavorful REAL FOOD, and not all of that chemical crap that you find in cereals nowadays. It’s full of delicious crunch, just like cereal. The best part is that you still get to eat it out of a bowl with a spoon! Yes, my excitement is strange…but it’s the simple things that make me happy. Berrylicious Greek Yogurt Bowl
Ingredients:
1 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
1/2 Cup Strawberries
1/2 Cup Blueberries
~16 almonds
2 Tbsp raisins
1 Tbsp Sunflower Seeds
Instructions:
Put 1 cup of Plain Greek Yogurt in a bowl. Add other ingredients on top. That’s it! This makes 1 serving.
Enjoy this nutritious meal with your favorite tea or cup of coffee! You can really substitute the toppings with whatever berries/nuts you prefer, but I like this combination in particular.
